Origins of the Kumi-Jo, Kumi-Tachi?

Our dojo has recently started to incorporate these kata into our training, and i'm wondering - what is the origin of these exercises? what sensei? style? (we're a very open minded dojo - just going with whatever seems aiki...). http://www.aikidokids.com/videogallery.htm (great site) has quicktime files of the kata if you would like to view them. thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

They seem to be the same as the ones taught by Morihiro Saito sensei.

Re: Origins of the Kumi-Jo, Kumi-Tachi?

there simply the founders paired weapons exercises, he left to saito to pass on. dont know there full history but the first kumitachi is said to be directly linked to the first kumitachi in either kashima ryu or katori
If your really interested you should ask the man himself stan pranin.
he should have a better idea than mine.
