Aikido master trains enthusiasts during weekend event in Santa Cruz.

The dozens of men and women clad in white gis and dark blue hakama pants made slow, deliberate motions as they practiced their Aikido training under the watchful eye of Motomichi Anno, once a student of the founder of Aikido and the guest of honor at the 14th annual Santa Cruz Aikido Summer Retreat on Saturday afternoon.

Anno has made eight trips to Santa Cruz since 1999, including this weekend, to share his knowledge.
