Contributing Membership "Pledge Drive"
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to encourage all members to help support the running of the AikiWeb server by becoming a Contributing Member. To help in this effort, I am now offering a special 20% discount. The annual membership is only $7.95 from now through Friday, June 16th. That, my friends, is just barely two cents a day!
You can view all benefits of a Contributing Membership here:
http://www.aikiweb.com/membership/
As before, payments may be made through PayPal as well as "regular" credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Authorize.net.
If you enjoy coming to AikiWeb every day to read the diverse and interesting thoughts on the Forums, gain insights into aikido by reading the monthly Columns, and search the world's most comprehensive dojo listings using the AikiWeb Dojo Search Engine, not to mention the AikiBlogs, image gallery, news, reviews, and everything else, please contribute! Your contributions will help keep AikiWeb running and will encourage new and exciting new features.
To subscribe, simply head over to the subscriptions page:
http://www.aikiweb.com/forums/subscriptions.php
Your Contributing Member subscription will then be enabled within 15 minutes!
Thank you again, everyone, for your consideration, and thank you especially to all of those who have become Contributing Members.

Re: Contributing Membership "Pledge Drive"
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to post some additional information regarding this season's AikiWeb Contributing Members Pledge Drive.
Keen-eyed AikiWeb community members may have noticed that the server had some downtime about a week and a half ago. This was due to the server suffering some hardware problems which necessitated my driving to the local CompUSA for a new power supply. Because of this downtime, I decided to do something I had been meaning to do for some time -- invest in an additional external server to house back-ups in case of a catatrophic failure of the main AikiWeb server.
At this time, I want to turn toward the AikiWeb community for your support in defraying these direct costs of running the server.
I would like to see if we can reach a target of $500 by the time this pledge drive ends on June 16th. That amount would cover (barely) the recent hardware costs for the servers.
In addition to the Contributing Membership, I wanted to point out that AikiWeb does accept donations.
So, you have two options if you wish to help out.
1) Become a contributing member by going to the following URL:
http://www.aikiweb.com/membership/
2) Send in a donation for AikiWeb by going to the following URL:
http://www.aikiweb.com/store/donation.html
I'll keep everyone up-to-date as to how well this pledge drive is going.
In any case, I want to take this time to thank all of the members of the AikiWeb community for your support, participance, and enthusiasm over the years. Thank you, again, for your consideration.
Best,
-- Jun

Perhaps us 'gold starers' can ask Jun for our own special section, where we can go and be all elitist and scoff at the others from behind safe walls?

Re: Contributing Membership "Pledge Drive"
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry I haven't been able to update this thread over the past several days, as I have been out of town.
So far, we have had 12 new contributing members for $95.40 and $70 in donations (with some people now donating and being or becoming a contributing member!) for a grand total of $165.40 towards the AikiWeb hardware fund. That leaves $334.60 towards our goal of $500 to cover recent hardware costs for AikiWeb. We're trying to meet that goal by June 16th. If you enjoy what AikiWeb has to offer, please consider chipping in.
Again, there are two ways to help:
1) Become a contributing member by going to the following URL:
http://www.aikiweb.com/membership/
2) Send in a donation for AikiWeb by going to the following URL:
http://www.aikiweb.com/store/donation.html
I really do appreciate everyone's support and contributions so far! Thank you to everyone who has helped.
Best,
-- Jun

I got Kevin's obscure reference right off, but it wasn't until nearly a week later that with my aiki-honed lightning-fast intellect, I realized what you meant by the 'gold star'.....it's right there by my name.
Can I get mine to flash 'eat at joe's' for another buck?

Jun,
In case nobody's mentioned this lately, you're a peach. Thanks for all the time, thought, and resources you put into this great asset to the aikido community. I hope to get down to Boulder some time to get thrown around by you (and start paying the debt in ukemi!).
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Contributing Membership "Pledge Drive"
Thanks Jun,
It really is such a small price to pay for all the time I've spent on Aikiweb over the years. Especially when I think of all the times that i've used the dojosearch. Thanks again.
Jory
p.s. Now I feel bad for never getting that NPR coffee cup.
