Ukemi Seminar in San Diego, May 3+4

What is your health worth?
How can you learn more from your time on the mat?
How can you help your partner learn?

Half of our time practicing Aikido is spent
taking ukemi - learn how to better protect
youself and create a more productive learning
environment for nage.

At this seminar we will explore principles
of movement, methods of falling, drills
and exercises to increase our skill, ways of
maintaining our health and protecting our
bodies, attacking with center, trust, giving &
receiving, and many other concepts of ukemi.

Re: Ukemi Seminar in San Diego, May 3+4

I went to this seminar over the weekend. It was probably one of the best seminars I've ever been to. For me it filled out the missing gaps in my ukemi and the drills and instruction I received have already changed my ukemi. A lot of the focus was on how to change our bodies to absorb ukemi better and to use less of our own energy (and more of the nages energy) to take the fall and return to a good position. I'm sure these methods will reduce the wear and tear on my knees and shoulder as I gradually perfect them. The seminar style was informal, informative and occasionally very funny. I've only being training for about 3 years but I wish I had taken this seminar sooner, though on the other hand, having 3 years experience allowed me to attempt some of the advanced ukemi techniques that were presented. I would highly recommend this seminar to beginners and advanced Aikidoka alike. I believe it is held yearly.

I think many of us could use a good ukemi seminar. Thanks for sharing.
