Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
Hi Guy's
Since I am due to return Home to this area for a few weeks after a long time as an Exile in the middle of England back to Swansea i was wondering does anyone know what Dojo's there are to train at in the area.
BTW - I have checked the database (which incidentally gives nothing for Swansea under Wales, only under the UK) which only gives one Dojo. since i am sure there are more than that. I would appreciate your input - preferrably about any Yoshinkan style dojo's

Re: Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
Where abouts in the Swansea area are you David? I'm a member of the Gowerton Ki-Aikido club, in Gowerton (obviously!). I have only recently managed to set up a website for us, but we have been running for around 10 years now. It is http://freewebs.com/aikidowill
Hey Justin, what style do you guys follow at the University? I had heard that you incorporate a lot of big flowing movements and Tencan turns, Is that correct? I have tried Tomiki, but that really wasnt for me. I may have to call down and watch a class. Would that be OK?

Re: Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
There are several BAF clubs in the South Wales area, and 2 in the Swansea area. Swansea University studies Aikikai Aikido, and it is a worth while to see the club; their main instructor is very very good.
There is also a good club (maybe biased) in port Talbot about 20 minutes from Swansea.

Re: Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
Hi David
Just like to mention there is another club in swansea, in Bishopston Gym, on the gower side of town. It is another BAF club, web site is www.goweraikido.org.uk
Between the three clubs, Swansea uni, Port Talbot and Bishopston, you can train all nights of the week if you wanted. I'd try all of them and see which suits what you are looking for. I can recomend then all

Re: Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
Justin
I am trying to organise a social between the three clubs, we thought maybe a laser quest challenge. Our guys are up for it, and I think there are takers at Port Talbot. Do you think you could have anyone up for it there. The new students might enjoy it. It would have to be a weekend because I think those are the only nights free from training. If so I will try to speak with Brian and Don and get something organised
Are u back training at the university this wed, and is it normal times?

Re: Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
Cheers Justin, just got to work out when I can get there now! I think it may be more likely that I could make the Bishopston class as it doesnt conflict with anything else. Although that is dependant on how I feel, as I am 1st Uke in our club and usually wake up aching like hell on a monday!!
Do you guys have any courses coming up?

Re: Dojos in the Swansea (S Wales area)
Will
You will be very welcome at the Bishopston dojo.
and there are indeed some very nice pubs which we visit after training.
I too can find myself waking up aching after a sunday weapons session.
The course at the weekend is at Port Talbot YMCA, sat 4-7pm, sun 10am-1pm.
