Nihon Goshin Aikido?

I'm going to school in Buffalo (probably) and I'll be forced to leave my current dojo. However, the only dojo I've been able to find in buffalo is one that teaches Nihon Goshin Aikido. I've read some about it and its clearly a departure from what I've been used to learning, but I'm curious as to what peoples thoughts on it are.

Or, if anyone knows of a more traditional dojo in Buffalo.

Thanks.

Plenty of choices in Toronto, even in your Aikikai style.

Re: Nihon Goshin Aikido?

I have a video by a Nihon Goshin group from that area, entitled "Dynamic Aikido combat." It's definitley a very direct, hard style, with tough looking ukemi! They did this gun takeaway section in the video, and I'll just say that I felt bad for the sensei's uke! Very tough shihonage's and kotegaeishi's, as well as this sankyo variant from a gun takeaway where I though the poor uke's fingers were going to get ripped out.

Anyway, that's my only exposure. Good luck, and if they are doing gun takeaways, errr, you might want to sit that one out.

Hey Don,

I haven't read through the entire (huge) posting but in the first post it's talking about Goshin Jutsu Karate. Is this related to Nihon Goshin Aikido?

Thanks,

Bronson

p.s. Would Goshin Justsu Karate translate as Empty Hand (karate) Self-Defense (goshin) Technique (jutsu)?

Duval-

I realize we're a considerable drive away (1 hour +/-), and our practices times are limited, but we do play well with others. Call Vic if you'd like to stop in for a visit, we don't bite (hard)

How many bullets do you have to dodge Guess they really do have to be perfect techniques Sorry, I know I shouldn't but couldn't resist

A difficult problem is easily solved by asking yourself the question, "Just how would the Lone Ranger handle this?"
