Late intro

Well hello everyone,

sorry I havn't done an intro yet, but I'd totally forgotten that I'd registered here. So here's to make amends...

My name's Adrian and I live in the UK. I started Aikido...hmm...quite a few months ago, and I go to a dojo in north London.

I'm ungraded as of this moment.

I think my main problem is not being able to remember all the terms.

Re: Late intro

Hi Adrian!

I just started Aikido a month and a half ago, and am also ungraded! I train at a dojo in Michigan, here in the States. I know how you feel about the terms. So far, the only terms for techniques that I can remember, are Shomen-uchi and Ikkyo. I figured that I will start knowing them when the time comes :-)

Re: Late intro

Hi Adrian,
I think learning the terms is a hinderance to structuring your understanding at the start - get a book on aikido like 'complete aikido' by Yamada (be aware that Yoshinkan sometimes use slightly different terms). Also, look at your grading syllabus and try to learn the terms for the techniques you will have to do for your next grading.
