Update on Kevin Sparkman Sensei

Many of you have help out by attending seminars around the country to assist Kevin with medical bills. For that I thank each and every one of you. Kevin is my senior most student and like a son to Connie and I. Those of you that have known him over the years remember a man with no quit in him. Kevin is still fighting the good fight.

Article; "Aikido teacher works on despite illness"

Posted 2006-05-11 09:37:22 by Jun Akiyama

The Tennesseean newspaper has written up an article entitled, Aikido teacher works on despite illness on Kevin Sparkman sensei who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor called "brain-stem glioma" in April of 2005. The article quotes Sparkman as saying, "Even though I cannot move as well as I used to, I still want to help others. I'll keep doing this until I can't anymore."

Re: Update on Kevin Sparkman Sensei

Kevin is also a member of our Koryu group. We held a seminar at an Aikido Dojo and raised funds to help with medical exp. as well.
I just recently trained with one his long time Aikido students -who was visiting in Boston -who told me Kevin is still pressing on and fighting the good fight despite the illness.
For those in our Dojo- who also share his faith-our prayers are with him.
Dennis, I didn't know he was one of your own.
Cheers
Dan
