Smile My Shodan Test

I took my Shodan test yesterday. We had six senseis as the grading people, and basically did what we were told. It wasn't to hard, I messed up on some stuff because I couldn't hear some of the names of the throws. I got a lot of praise ( weird word) after the test from the senseis about my form and free style. I will get my results this upcoming weekend! I hope I passed! I will tell you the results next week if I passed or not. It was a fun test, ironically i wasn't as nervous as I usually am during test. I would like to thank you people at these fourms for your insights and advice and how you have helped me shape my personal training! I know shodan is just the start of the road, but felt I needed to say thank you! Esp to Jun for the time and effort he has put into this site. So, Osu to all!

Hey Dallas,

Other than Payet Sensei, who were the examiners? Just curious.

Um, I dont know many of the last names, and I only know 3 of the senseis by names and all of these are by their first names ( i really stink at names). Randy sensei , Kevin Sensei and Payet sensei, we had 2 other examiners who just met that weekend so didnt get their names. sorry and sorry I looked at my post we had 5 senseis examining we were sopposed to have 6 but Reynolds sensei couldnt make it.

Hi Dallas,

Randy Stoner and Kevin Pickard most likely. Randy and I are class mates from the Sanbukan dojo before he went to Japan and joined the Senshusei course. Kevin started in Indianapolis but know trains out of San Diego dojo. Both very cool and nice people.

Please do let us know the results ....

Cheers

Sounds like you did fine Dallas. Best of luck for your results, not that I think that you need it.

Happy training

Well, okay I got my results yesterday but ended up staying at the dojo all day ( even slept there) so I am telling you today! I passed! So did the 12 other people who were testing! I now have a stiff, shiny, black belt. now I just gotta move my body lower lower lower!

Congratulations Dallas!

I can't help thinking of the message my sensei got when he received his shodan: "Here's your shodan - now earn it!"

I'm sure you will.
