Tozando Gi jacket
I'm thinking about purchasing a gi jacket from Aikido Tozando, the "Deluxe Quality Hand-Stitched Aikido Gi Jacket". Does anyone have any review or or suggestion? Thank you.

Wow! Hand stitched. You must be rich. I don't know about the hand stitched, but I will tell you that Tozando makes some of the best uniforms and they are always very soft yet very durable. Go for it and then let us know how you like it.

Re: Tozando Gi jacket
Tozando is based here in Kyoto, and give excellent service in quality gis. I wouldn't bother buying anything handstitched, their usual thick gis are more than adequate, and they have excellent cotton hakama, though it might take weeks for them to get your length (94cm or longer is definitely non-standard in Japan). One warning thing: their lettering (stitched characters) suck bigtime. I was extremely disappointed. There is no replacement of the corner tailor who does theses freehand with a Japanese stitching machine in a few seconds for next to nothing.

Re: Tozando Gi Jacket
Thanks for all of your replies.
Mr. Hassenpflug, so out of those Tozando Gis, which one would you recommend? and why would the "hand-stitched gi" not be the best choice? (the price is out of the question becuz I believe in "you get what you pay for).

Re: Tozando Gi Jacket
I purchased a "standard aikido gi jacket" from Tozando about 1 year ago.
http://aikido.tozando.com/ag300.html
The quality is excellent and in general a great fit. The sleeves, however, are longer than I like (nothing that rolling them a bit won't solve). It still looks great, even after numerous washings. I didn't have any embroidery done, so I can't comment on that aspect.
Lately, I've been buying the Iwata gi #200AS. They fit me perfectly. Their quality is also excellent. I have had Iwata embroider the jacket/pants and it looks great.

Re: Tozando Gi Jacket
Love Tozando gear. I have two of their tops. i would say no to the hand stitched unless it is a gift for someone.

Re: Tozando Gi Jacket
I forgot to mention another place you should look. Nine Circles. I just got one of their gi tops, pants and obi. All for less than almost anything at Tozando and I am very pleased. Check them out. Very pleasant to deal with and quick to respond to your questions.
