Dojo is where you go to learn new things so you can go home and practice then come back to show what you know, then learn new things so you can go home and practice then comeback to show what you know, then learn new things...etc,etc,etc...........

Re: Dojo
Dojo is roughly translated as "training hall" or "the place of The Way." (as I am sure there are others). It is basically the place where the majority of your training takes place. In Japanese martial arts, names ending in "kan" typically notate the dojo, and "kai" typically refer to an organization (budokan vice budokai). Jerome's answer is referring to the saying "jiki shin kore dojo"; roughly, "if the mind is correct, everywhere is the dojo." Basically training shouldn't end in the dojo and should be applied to everyday life (beyond the physical aspect).
Happy New Year!

They are one, and the same...if you are training, while standing in the airport awaiting a flight, it is a dojo...if you go to the stucture, secured for the practice of your discipline, it is a dojo..."dojo" is where you " practice the way"....
Train well,
Mickey
ps...your dojo's website is the best I have ever seen..for those who might be interested....

Re: Dojo
Horse trainer ,Mark Rashid, (Nidan) begins his clinics by telling his audience that, for the session, the arena is his dojo.He then goes on to explain the attitude of respect he expects the audience to have for him and his participating students.

Re: Dojo
In o'sensei's words as written by John steven sensei ,
Heaven and earth is right where you stand and that is the place to train.
