Just having a place to show up to and people to show up with.
Thank you to the Tenshinaki Aikikai Dojo in CA and the Roswell Budokan in GA. My gratitude cannot be expressed enough for giving an old Ronin an place to rest and train.

Re: Thanksgiving... Techniques to be thankful for?
I'm grateful for breakfalls. The best fun I've had since pre-school.
I'm grateful for my dojo, our Sensei, our black belts who are great instructors, and all my dojo mates. Training there showed me I'm capable of so much more than I ever could have expected.
Domo arigato gozaimashita.

Re: Thanksgiving... Techniques to be thankful for?
I'm thankful for everyone in my dojo. They have taught me so much and have helped enrich my life. It is a place where my husband and I go to get away from the world (as well as each other at times), yet we are still working together. If we aren't getting along before class, we are usually over it by the time we bow out.

Re: Thanksgiving... Techniques to be thankful for?
Not a technique but something that has been forced on me.
To slow down.
My mind goes a million miles a minute. In class I have to s l o w d o w n because I am so out of my element there. I have to be patient and that isn't my strong point at all, I admit it.

I'm with Lynn.. the dojo itself. Yeah not itself a technique but a safe and peaceful place in which to explore them all.
Not to mention the amazing teachers I have and my fellow students. Perhaps you might focus on appreciating those aspects of training. We focus on technique all the time but perhaps don't take the time often to really consider the gift we have in each other and the place we train at.

REI or bowning to O'sensei (shomen), bow to sensei and bow to every dojo mates in the dojo will be the best technique for the Thanksgiving Day. They call it RESPECT.
