I have just heard that Mitsunari Kanai sensei of New England Aikikai passed away over the weekend, apparently of a massive heart attack. According to Greg O'Connor, "Kanai Sensei passed away suddenly in Toronto where he was conducting a seminar. Cause of death was apparently a massive heart attack. He was found this morning in his room." I will post more information as I get it. My condolences go to his family, friends, and loved ones.

I had the good fortune to train under Kanai Sensei many times during the USAF East Coast Summer Camp. I have to say he was my favorite of the surviving uchi-deshi and I know his passing will be sorely felt by all those lives he had a chance to connect with.

Go in peace Sensei.
