Children's Summer Camp in Columbus
St. Joseph Montessori School, located in Columbus, Ohio, is offering a half-day, week-long Aikido camp as part of their Summer Learning Camp. The Aikido Camp will be the week of July 24-28, and requires preregistration. Space is limited.
Taught by William M. Reed (yes, that's me) of the Columbus Aikikai, the camp is an introduction to the martial art of Aikido. It will focus on the basic philosophy and techniques of Aikido, and will include a variety of games and activities in addition to traditional instruction.
More details on registration can be found at the http://www.sjms.net/summerprogram/summerprogram.html webpage.

Re: Children's Summer Camp in Columbus
If enrollment gets large enough, I may give you a call. However, I don't expect it to be more than 20 kids.
Thanks!

Re: Children's Summer Camp in Columbus
Hey Mr. Reed,
Has there ever been any thought of, or has there ever been like an All-Columbus aikido seminar? There are a good handful of schools in Columbus..that might be a fun idea. I'm pretty new to the area and was just wondering.
Good luck with the seminar this summer, sounds fun!

Re: Children's Summer Camp in Columbus
There has been, but not for some time. We had a seminar, maybe called a friendship seminar some years back and had people teaching at our dojo from all over Central Ohio.
The senseis I remember were Frank Hreha, Mike Pabst, Paul Linden, and several others. I was new to aikido and the area at that time and didn't know Saotome from Tohei. :-)
It's likely that some senseis I know very well now taught, but I had no idea who they were, so forgot about them. My apologies to anyone who sees this post and about whom I forgot.
That would be fun to do again. I'll put the bug in Sensei's ear and see what happens.
Bill
