Cleaning Mats

Does anybody know of a good cleaning solution that will kill fungus, bacteria and viruses without discoloring or drying the mats or leaving a residue?

How about Febreeze. I buy it at our local grocery store.

Re: Cleaning Mats

We use Lysol Disenfectant All Purpose Cleaner. It doesn't seem to leave a residue or harm the mats in any way.

Hiya Jon =)

What exactly is your mat made of? I've trained on old wrestling mats, foam judo mats, and canvas. Each one has a different set of things to clean and disinfect.

Re: Cleaning Mats

we have multiple colors of mats and standard clorox bleach doesn't seem to cause any discoloring that i can see. Just a cap full in a bucket of water should do the trick.

Re: Cleaning Mats

We have the textured vinyl Zebra Mats and clean them with a patio furniture cleaner that's safe for vinyl. We wipe the mats with this cleaner (diluted in water), then let the mats air dry for a minute or two before stowing them after class. The cleaning solution we use is from Home Depot. I think it may be Zep brand. We have noted no adverse effects on our mats by cleaning in this method.

Sometimes it's not enough. You'll want something strong that kills all of the bacteria and stuff. Don't want anyone to get Ringworm. I've had it. It's no fun.
