Re: Popkin and Brogna at Aikido of Livermore in Feb
I will be wending my way down from the hinterlands for this and highly recommend this seminar. Great instructors who can demonstrate and teach - among other things - how to integrate some of the IS/IP stuff into waza.

STILL worth shlepping to Livermore for!!! C'mon out, Northern Calif aikidoka...if you are interested in exploring how "internal training" applies to waza, this is the seminar to attend. Plus crazy New Yorkers.

Indeed. Livermore expected to offer sunny skies and low 70s....c'mon out and hear two masters of Da NewYawk Accent PLUS great budo (that would be from Popkin Sensei) and bad puns (that would be me). I'm not bringing any kimchi so even those of delicate sensibilities will be comfortable :-)

Well having trained with Howard and with Janet, I can testify that Howard is really good but I think Janet is a Shihan in bad puns!!!! Should be a good weekend, see you all there.

Re: Popkin and Brogna at Aikido of Livermore in Feb
A heartfelt thanks to Jim Alvarez Sensei and the participants of this weekends seminar. There were people from all over the west coast, spanning different arts and back grounds.
It was really a pleasure to share with dedicated budoka.
Thanks for everything !

I had a great time and received some very valuable things to help me with my budo pursuits. Thank you Popkin sensei and Alvarez sensei for hosting. I look forward to attending more Popkin sensei seminars.

Re: Popkin and Brogna at Aikido of Livermore in Feb
You know, after my long-ago fourth kyu test, when asked how I felt my aikido was my reply (which has sort of gone viral over the years) was to quip "my aikido still sucks, but it sucks at a higher level." As I delve into building the aiki into my body and waza, I feel now that..."my aikido sucks, but it sucks at a deeper level" :-) In all seriousness, the last time I trained with Popkin Sensei I set myself one or two things to work on and felt happy this weekend that I'd really made progress I could feel on one of them and during the course of this seminar got the additional instruction and practice to make progress on the second, while setting myself another "job" for next time... :-)
Oh....and Calif folks....Howard Sensei returns to NorCal, in late July, to Aikido of Diablo Valley!
