moving onward

Dr. Jones Sensei (5th dan Shindai dojo, ASU) and I will be doing a talk show hosted by Mr. Tony Tizzio on a Public Television station on Oct 15t here in Orlando. We will be discussing meditation, breathing and budo philosophy and how it can help people who can not otherwise engage in Martial arts training. We will then sponsor an afternoon class for people with physical disabilities and neuromuscular illnesses. The first class will be limited to 20 or so people. Having Myasthenia Gravis myself and having had opportunity to be involved with other people suffering from neuromuscular illnesses I used to do this at workshops around the country. However, I feel a real need to institutionalize it and make it a part of our regular community interaction. I have taught people with missing limbs and people who were blind to use Aikido as self defense but these people I am talking bout now are fighting to stay alive. I have been there and done that.

Are any of you doing things like this now?

Hi Dennis,

First of all, congratulations on this opportunity! I hope it goes well and allows another venue for expressing aikido ideas.

I believe some people in the Aiki Extensions group is doing similar things.

You can find their website here:
