The pilgrimage routes of Japan; the Kumano Kodo and the Camino de Santiago - the route to Santiago de Compostella, have both been given by UNESCO the status of World Heritage Sites. Both are originally meant for a spiritual pilgrimage.
To make a symbolic and spiritual link between the two and in dedication of the message of peace of O Sensei, a number of Spanish instructors, all students of the Kumano Juku Dojo in Japan, have organized a yearly Aikido seminar in places along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Aim is to bring together aikidoka from everywhere and share the joy of Aikido.
