Aikido against a dragon.

Hi everyone,

I made this quick animated/live short last Christmas (just for fun)

http://www.mediafire.com/?6mzxxn0utgj

This is a "just for laughs" short. Every december, I usually compile my works into a reel, and once in a while I include a short just for fun.

It took me 3 weeks to complete this short. I had only one day to shoot the live material. The editing, compositing and 3D were all made during my free so I wasn't working on this full time.

The model was made about in about a week prior to production, the board and the planning 2 weeks before that.

I wanted to post this in the "off the mat" section but I put it here, because I'd like to recieve C&C for it.

The short is a tribute to a things I like the most. Im an avid fan of Dragons, the techniques used in the short are some of my favorites.

My only regret is that I used a technique called "Reppuken" (Violent Wind Fist) to defeat the dragon. I'd like to apologize in advance since the word "Violent" isn't something you can use as an Aikidoka. When I made the short, I chose the technique because it was the signature move of one of my favorite video game characters (Geese Howard), who happens to be the closest thing to an aikidoka in video games.

Anyway I hope u guys like it!

Very cool. Your ukemi was nice too; I can't imagine being able to roll out of a laser.

If you have any other Aikido-related videos it'd be great if you could post them; I'd like to see them.

Thanks Ryan! I don't have anything else at the moment, but sure, I i do make anything else in the future I'll post them...

If I managed to make my viewer smile or laugh then I know I've accomplished my goal as a 3D Animator...

hahaha, yeah...

We chose to shoot there because a couple of friends told me that it was a good isolated place, plus it was free??? O_O

The admin actually approached us in the middle of the shoot and charged us to rent the feild... ouch! >__<

Still, I had a lot of fun doing the vid. Thanks man!

Re: Aikido against a dragon.

Haha I sometimes wondered what an Aikidoka would look like in a video game. Now I have a very good idea :P Nice choreography, must be loads of work.

Here's Geese Howard, one of my favorite video game characters. He's an aikidoka only in appearance. But he's a notorious crime boss.

yeah, it was fun... I hurt myself pretty bad in the scene where I was dodging the dragon's blasts. It did a number on my back. i was slouching for like a week after hehehehe.

It was really fun!
