Hi Robin, sorry for off thread question, but can you share what your test consisted of?

Hi Steven,
Here is a link to the test guidelines.
http://www.aikidoyuishinkai.org/wp-c...2014-04-01.pdf
The way I look at it, all the weapons stuff allowed me to relax into the test, and the 100 attacks from each strike was the meat of the test. I'm afraid I didn't last long in the goningake at the end after that.

Re: This Is Only a Test
The 2014 guidelines are quite different from the prior guidelines, and I was curious about your particular experience, that is why I asked.

I see. I'm relatively new to this organization. I only started in 2012, and my 2-dan test was while I was still getting a handle on the differences in style, so it's quite difficult to compare. For what it's worth, I think I managed to demonstrate what I set out to demonstrate, and I think the test was a good reflection of my recent training. My particular goal was to control the mat and for my ukes to be very conscious of the fact that they were entering my space the minute they stepped out there, and I think I did that.

Re: This Is Only a Test
I should add that it was by no means perfect. The weapons taking didn't come off as cleanly as I would have liked, and the goningake didn't last long because I was worn out from the rest of it. I think I had 11 or 12 ukes in total, only one of which I had practiced with before. The others were from other dojos and had no idea what techniques I was going to do, which was a challenge.

Re: This Is Only a Test
Sorry for the multiple replies. I should ask, is this something that you'll be attempting in the near future? (You might already have sandan for all I know. I have no idea what rank you are)

Re: This Is Only a Test
I was given nidan last year; I doubt that i would be considered for sandan anytime soon, but Master Maruyama has more to say about it than I do.
I am in an isolated location and am the senior aikidoka here, and travel is not affordable for the foreseeable future, so my learning and testing opportunities are limited. Given the structure of the new guidelines and my disabilities, I would foresee difficulties in being able to complete the test in one go. That is a lot of repetitions of multiple techniques! Thanks for your responses.

Re: Yuishinkai Yudansha Testing Protocols
Apologies for the thread necromancy, but the Aikido Yuishinkai International youtube channel now has most of Maruyama Sensei's seminar videos from the last 15 years ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs5...u1KYdcpg14ZQw), might be helpful. There are also syllabus videos on there which are either demonstrated by Maruyama Sensei himself or by the two international instructors.
Hope this helps.
