1st kyu test
I have not posted in a long time but I have been still visiting the site and practicing aikido. I recently took my first kyu test. Here it is if anyone cares. Lots of thing to always work on. This is in the aikido of Madison Wisconsin dojo. Thanks - https://youtu.be/vZ-aTfZj_Rw

Re: 1st kyu test
Nice and smooth. Indeed more work to do, but still good job! Congrats.

Re: 1st kyu test
Congratulations! A good start. Are these test requirements what Akira Tohei asked for?

Re: 1st kyu test
That is one beautiful dojo you have there.
Very interesting test -- is ukemi included? I can't really hear what's being called out, but it looks very different from the tests we do in Victoria, BC (Aikikai).
Looking good. I'm up for 1st kyu in the next couple of months, so this was especially interesting for me.

Re: 1st kyu test
The curriculum for the demo is different than my group's Tomiki reqs for 1st Kyu, but most of the fundamentals are parallel across style. Generally good posture, movement nice and smooth, very little exhibition of power to "make" the technique fflow. Nicely done.

I find it interesting that the kanji character for kuzushi illustrates a mountain falling on a house.

Re: 1st kyu test
@Eric - yes we are very lucky to have such a nice dojo. The people make it the best. I would say ukemi is always included. Earlier in the tests I was taking ukemi for some koshinsge and general ukemi practice.
I always watch test on YouTube as well and I find it fasinating how each organizations aikido is different, but very much the same.
Sensei has been working with my trying to correct some posture issues. Bad habits I have picked up through the years.
