Sugano Sensei Seminar in Aspen Cancelled

Posted 2005-05-19 12:01:15 by Jun Akiyama

The June 18-19th seminar with Seiichi Sugano sensei in Aspen, Colorado has been cancelled due to health complications. The report that I received notes, "Sensei is having complications with his leg and is in the hospital." My wishes for a full and speedy recovery for Sugano sensei.

Re: Sugano Sensei Seminar in Aspen Cancelled

I second the wish for a speedy recovery...I really enjoyed the day I spent in one of his seminars.

Best,
Ron

Re: Sugano Sensei Seminar in Aspen Cancelled

I have been asked to post the following from the organizer of the event.

-- Jun

Quote:
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Sugano Shihan Session scheduled for June 18th and 19th has been cancelled.

I spoke with Mark Goodman, our liaison between Sugano Sensei and the CMC Aikido program, on Tuesday morning. He told me that Sugano's medical condition was preventing him from making the trip. Many of you know that Sugano Sensei's foot was amputated several months ago and that he trains with a prosthetic device. Without going into too much detail, he has had difficulty with the point at which the device attaches and has undergone surgery to correct the problem. The healing process is taking a long time and Sugano felt that it was necessary to cancel in the best interest of his health. We are disappointed, of course, and we completely understand and support his decision.

We hope that we will have another opportunity to host Sugano Sensei in Aspen and will keep you all posted about future events. Until then we will continue our sincere training and encourage all to do the same! I would like to thank all of you who showed interest in attending. We look forward to training with you another time. I would also like to thank those members of CMC Aikido Aspen who stepped up to help make this happen. Finally, we all wish Sugano Sensei a speedy, complete, and uncomplicated recovery. OSU! Gambate!

If you have already registered, CMC will automatically refund your fee in the same way in which it was paid.

If you have any questions, you may respond to this email or contact me at 970-379-4676.

Please help us spread the word about this change in plan.

Domo Arigato Gozai Mashita,

Brad Manosevitz
Chief Instructor-CMC Aikido, Aspen
