Marketplace

Would people be interested in a "Marketplace" or "Classifieds" forum where people can post information about aikido-related merchandise?

I'm figuring people out there must have dojo T-shirts and such that might interest others and that there may be folks with books, magazines, and other aikido-related merchandise they're thinking of personally selling. Also, there are probably people who are looking for that back issue of Aikido Journal or that old Koichi Tohei book and such, too.

Any thoughts?

Although I think it is a good idea, I wonder how you want to deal with scammers and other *#$^%#^. You naturaly run the risk of attracting them and their presence can easily ruin aikiwebs good reputation.

in harmony with business

I think that it would be great if a struggling dojo could earn a little extra cash off of it's well-designed T-shirts in it's efforts, for example, to repair or replace its old mats.

But how to deal with the big commercial interests?

Maybe a seperate commercial section that would pay a monthly fee to be listed on aikiweb.

I think that it would be nice to be able to shop for aikido equipment and mats on aikiweb. Maybe the aikidoists could even rate and make comments about the products.

Aikiweb should probably post only quality products, and filter out scams, and unsafe and sub-standard items.

Such a concept should probably be well thought-out first.

Money is power. We can use that power to do more good in the world. And I think the world needs us.

Well, there is the Weblinks Portal that contains links to commercial entities that sell things like aikido equipment, mats, and other supplies as well as allows people to rate and comment on the products/suppliers:

http://www.aikiweb.com/links/

It's free to submit links but I do (and have used) the right to not list links that I deem not appropriate...

Good thought all around so far. Others?

Hi folks,

I've decided to try out the "Marketplace" forum. Let's see how it goes...

You can find the new forum on the main page of the AikiWeb Forums or you can go to it directly here.
