Re: Weapon training music

I prefer the more sublte tones of music like the artist Mizuyo Komiya. Also there are a great number of shakuhachi cd's made for meditation or relaxation. Check your local stores under the "new age" or occasionally "easy listening" sections. You can also follow the link in the supplies area of this website to "Bugei Trading Company." They have a few cd's for sale. In general though I like music that calms me and slows me down. It's better for perfecting the movement. For something more fast paced, to practice speed, look for japanese drums albums in the same area you find the shakuhachi music.

Re: Weapon training music

Adding music is adding something extra. Practice should be directed towards getting rid of something extra. It is hust my opinion , so this is not an attack. In gassho

Oh, I don't know...sometimes it helps to put on a really annoying song to further develop your zanshin. REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling" comes to mind; it's always good for generating homicidal thoughts. Anything by Wham! should be on the list too, especially "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." Don't blame me if you end up looking for people to beat with a stick though.

The only sound I listen to is the wind when I'm outside practicing with my subirito.
