AAA/AAI did a fall-athon a few years back. Basically people get sponsors to donate a certain amount per fall. So, if someone promises to donate 50 cents per fall and you do 50 falls thats $25.
After everyone got their sponors and donations they held an event with judges and everything. I think you had X number of minutes do to as many breakfalls as you could. You had your own selected nage up their to throw you around.
I think when AAA did it a lot of the dojos where trying to out perform the other dojos in the number of falls (I think the record was 350) they could do in X number of minutesr. I little friendly competion might make it more fun and interesting. (Dojo certificate for the dojo that did the most falls collectively, personal certificate for the person who did the most falls, person who raised the most money, dojo who raised the most money, etc...
I've also heard of a lot of Jujitsu dojos doing this.
