Cool

There is talk in O'Sensei's doka about the Kami of the Eight Powers. Does O'Sensei refer here to the powers of the many kami, or the Kami of Creation? Also what are the 8 powers which the Kami (kami) possess?

Drew,

Try going to this site: http://www.kannagara.org/index.htm

Click on "Aiki OhKami" for a brief explanation. If you want more information, then go into the Shinto section of Rev. Yamamoto Guji.

The most complete exposition of the spiritual structure of O-Sensei's Aikido is in William Gleason sensei's book. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in this area. Just be aware that it is highly technical, not a watered down volume made simple for westerners.
