Re: Poll: Do others call you by an aikido nickname?
I get Nick-eru, but I guess that is not really a nickname as much as an immitation of how my name can be said in Japanese.
When asked what the kanji on my sleeve or hakama says, I always answer "Taker of Souls".....then give the real explanation.

"Spike" is the nickname I gained in the senshusei course, and pretty much only aikido people use it. Also, my "mii" on the Nintendo is called "Spike" which my kids find hilarious.

One instructor used to lovingly call me "Chew Toy"...a few people picked that up for a while.
Great fun, those days...

For some of my fellow students "Grumpy Joe" seems to be considered appropriate. I don't know why. Joe Joe seems to be considered appropriate for others.
