Bloopers

I received my "4th kyu diplomma" today (we get those at my dojo)...
Anyway, the guy that was supposed to take care of the printing of these things made a small mistake, so right now i'm holding two diplommas for my 6th kyu (one from 2004 and one from just a few days ago)

He mistakingly made a few diplommas with wrong ranks written on them. So to make a joke out of the whole thing, my sensei wrote "Bravo!" on the "faulty" diplommas and told the few of us that we just re-ranked for a 6th kyu and that we're the only people who had this kind of re-testing... mentioning that he decided to actually downgrade us from 5th kyu down to 6th... This small mistake made our day at the dojo... everyone came to me congratulating me for joining the dojo (6th kyu is the first rank you demo for in my association). It all turned out funny, and really made us laugh hard

Do you people have similar bloopers that aren't necessarily training or technique - related?

(Excuse my poor English, it's not my native language)

Best regards,
Nebojsa Mrmak

Re: Bloopers

This reminds me (I don't know WHY) of an advertising incident a few years ago in China. Coca-Cola was at that time promoting a jingle (musical catch-phrase) which, in English, was "Coke, it brings good things to life...". The advertising people could not understand why Coke suddenly began flying off the shelves in China, until it was discovered that the jingle, when translated by the marketing people into Chinese, now stated "Coke, it will bring your ancestors back from the dead....". Hysterical.

Re: Bloopers

Clark, just to set the record straight, the English slogan in question was "Come alive with the Pepsi generation". (It may not have happened -- see http://www.snopes.com/business/misxlate/ancestor.asp -- but it's a great story.)

Nebojsa, that is hilarious. Hvala for sharing.

Re: Bloopers

Look in my profile. Poughkeepsie is about 70 miles north of New York City. I grew up closer to NYC and have been gradually moving north following cheap rent.
