Ellis Amdur at Aikido of Pittsburgh - March 7-9

Ellis Amdur will be teaching his first aikido seminar in a number of years on March 7th - 9th, 2014, at Aikido of Pittsburgh. Amdur's core concept is that all aikido techniques can be placed on five essential vectors of movement. This concept can radically shorten the amount of time in which people learn aikido techniques, counters, and atemi (striking methods). Counter-techniques, in particular, rather than something "pre-planned" based on the technique the opponent is attempting, become a natural unconscious response, as soon as the practitioner finds themselves "placed" on one of those vectors.

Re: Ellis Amdur at Aikido of Pittsburgh - March 7-9

Found a video from the 2007 AIKIWEB seminar that I co-taught with Denis Hooker and Chuck Clark. I was just woring on my idea that all aikido technique-structurally-conforms to one (or in combination) of five vectors of movement. I abstracted out my own teaching sections from the ad hoc video. I wasn't really aware that it was being filmed, for much of it, so there's a lot of my back. At any rate, this is what I was working on back then--and continue to do so, along with Budd Yuhasz.

See some of you next week.
Ellis Amdur

Ditto!

I wish I could have made Friday and Sunday but other commitments kept me away. That and I don't know if I could have handled Sunday after getting manhandled by you, Budd!
