Perhaps aikido does "work"!

A man fought off four attackers and still didn't drop his chips...

He really should have dropped the food, it would have improved his response. Everyone knows you perform the best when the chips are down.

The basic "kick to the knees"-kyo (or kajo if you are in to the old stuff).

What's that about atemi being an important part of Aikido? I like it - a kick to the knees/shins keeps your foot a bit farther away from being caught or blocked.

I see in the DM the guy admitted he had made the story up - sounds like a lot of Aikidoka I know of..

Daily Mail
John Wood has been fined for lying to police over the amazing story, which made national headlines.
At the time of the alleged attack, he proudly showed off the stomach wound he said they had given him - but now the origins of the injury are a total mystery.
The 37-year-old told police and reporters that he had been attacked by four men outside a takeaway in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, but managed to fight them off without even dropping the chips he had bought.

Re: Perhaps aikido does "work"!

Dear Joe,
I have not had the opportunity to meet or train with Sensei Murashige. My kids were enrolled at San Diego Aikikai while it was still on Adams Ave. I have been studying under Walter Muryasz Sensei lo these many years.

It was so foggy here the other day I thought we were in your neck of the woods.
