A Valuable lesson
Hello all,
Last night in class we learned something that really helped me put into focus the art of blending. I thought I would share it here.
Monday nights are usually devoted to strictly KI training, and last night was no different. The subject was on blending and the exercise was really awesome.
This is what it involved:
Have Uke try a simple katatedori and Nage react with Enke Undo
Make sure Uke is giving enough KI though...
Simple, yes?
Now have Uke do katatedori with only two fingers
and have Nage slowly do Enke The result will be the same, only you can really focus on your one point, and I was really amazed at the amount of KI I could sense coming off of Uke.
If you are feeling really ambitious, try it with Uke doing katatedori
with only ONE finger. Is all these cases, we LEAD rather than pull. This exercise can be done with almost any katatedori or ryotedori. In the end, It really brought home the feeling that comes with the certain waza I am doing.
Have fun!
-Tomu
