Background of Imaizumi Shihan - Chief Instructor Shin Budo Kai

Imaizumi Shihan has practiced Aikido since 1959. In 1965 as Sandan he became part of the teaching staff at Hombu Dojo and frequently took ukemi for Morehei Ueshiba the Founder of Aikido ( O-Sensei or Great Teacher). After O-Sensei's death in 1969, Imaizumi Shihan was chosen to accompany Waka-Sensei (the son of O-Sensei) and his wife to enshrine the remains of O-Sensei at the Ueshiba family grave in Tanabe. In 1972 he was instructed by Koichi Tohei 10th Dan then head instructor of Aikido Hombu Dojo to go to Los Angeles to teach Aikido and Ki-principles with Roderick T. Kobayashi Sensei, Chief Instructor of the Western States Aikido Federation. In 1974 Imaizumi joined Tohei Sensei's Ki Society, becoming Chief Instructor of the US Ki Society in 1975.
