Aikido in Glasgow
Hi, there,
I'll be moving to Glasgow, Scotland for a year shortly and I am really keen on practicing Aikido there also.
Does anyone have idea on Aikido dojos in Glasgow?
My dojo in Munich follows the teaching of Nuboyuki Watanabe Sensei (Shihan). Any information is appreciated.
Yours
ChrisA

Re: Aikido in Glasgow
Hi Christian,
There are a lot of dojo in Glasgow although manby of them do not openly advertise and a lot are based in Universities etc.
Scotland is not that large and the Central Area is easily accessible for travel via rail, bus or car.
Our Dojo is only about 20 miles from Glasgow, in the town of Kilmarnock (30min by car, 45min by bus, 30 by rail). We train Sunday evenings and Tuesday evenings.
I hope you enjoy your time in Scotland and find a Dojo adequate to your needs. Either way, please feel free to pay us a vist while you are over, you would be most welcome.

Re: Aikido in Glasgow
I believe Ezra sensei has a student in Glasgow (Komyokan Aikido Association). If you have practiced under Watanabe Sensei, his subtle approach may interest you.
Matthew Holland (6th dan, senior student of Kanetsuka Sensei) is local and an excellent Aikidoka, though only go if you don't mind intense practice.
Good luck.

Re: Aikido in Glasgow
Can anyone please post the address for Sensei Holland's dojo. I have a friend who is going to be living up there indefinitely and she is keen to train under Matt Holland.
Thank you in advance.
