Bujin Hakama

Hello I know there is a super old review of Bujin after the company was sold. But I am wondering how things are going now? Would like to hear from German aikidoka.

To be honest: I have no idea.
It seems to me that Bujin hakama weren't and aren't that popular over here. I actually don't know anybody who has ever tried one.

Re: Bujin Hakama

They seem to be based out of Germany now. So I would think that people would use that company. Thanks!

My understanding is they are sold to/licensed to an existing German company, so my semi-educated guess is that in W Europe it is the parent/original company that is a known entity people purchase from. Offhand I cannot recall the name but a search through aikiweb might reveal it.

As far as I know, the name of the German firm is aikido24. Their website is http://www.aikido24.com/

aikido24 only was set up for selling Bujin hakama. It didn't exist before.
There are some well known companies here selling hakama. And a whole lot of people wear hakama from Japan like Iwata or Tozando.

So I think simply nobody knows Bujin hakama around here. I myself only know about them because of aikiweb. And from attending a seminar of Ikeda sensei.
In which way are those hakama different?

Re: Bujin Hakama

I bought one soon after they started selling them, but I didn't like it. Stitching was very heavy and the size was off (although sizing problems aren't limited to any one company!)

Currently using a Tozando. Not quite as nice as the old Bujin, but it's lasted me a few years now.

What I want to know is where to find shinai as nice as the ones Bujin used to sell!

Re: Bujin Hakama

A couple of the people in our dojo have a tozando. And one guy had to replace after two years from normal training. Mine is like 15 years old with one knee patch job. My son also has a tozando. It is mid grade and nice. Tozando has a 10000 count threat count Hakama. I wonder how that compares to the old Bujin heavy Hakama?

I emailed Bujin 4 days ago and have not heard anything yet. That does not make me feel good about ordering from them.
