ABIR - Biblical Martial Arts

I ran across this video clip and was wondering if anyone in or from Israel could comment on it. Apparently is an ancient Jewish martial art.

I will not be surprised if they are one and the same. After all it is well known that the Scots are one of the lost tribes :-)

Not exactly martial arts, but there's always Pontius Pilates.

DOH! You got me ... I googled (clusty, never google) thinking 'I never heard of that, must be interesting'. Just wind up the old kilt ... refreshing but transitory.

Does the Green Druid wear a cape?

Unbeliever. The Green Druid wears a robe, of course.

I'll bet they serve some kool-aid at break time. Lemon flavor is so cleansing-especially for dishwashers and coffee makers!

Honestly with 'dance' moves like that it's no wonder the brothers think white folks is so silly. Where is that grumbly voiced rasta emoticon ...

Re: ABIR - Biblical Martial Arts

Wonder how much of the history is true but it seems everybody's that pushing a martial art wants to claim ancient roots. The truth is that body movement joint locks and throws of all kinds have been used by warriors of every culture for thousands of years. The principles of combat remain the same. Minor differences in how to hold or move. Understand how to use gravity and human anatomy and human reactions and natural principles will guide you in your art whatever you want to call it. The most important thing to me is to develop a warrior mindset and practice your art. Remember, there is no superior martial art just superior martial artists. I think modern Budo emphasize on personal development is wonderful and clearly seen in this art. I just sense a lot of ego and elitism wrapped in a religious blanket.

Now, while Torah has some heft -- and getting clobbered with the Word of the Almighty would be a serious attention-grabber -- I seem to recall The Chosen People usually got on with some fairly serious Assistance when it came to folks in need of some Smiting ...

Am I alone in totally loving Charlton Heston's Bible epics? They've got to be the most over-the-top stuff ever produced in Hollywood. Charlton Heston comes down from Mount Sinai with a perm and frost, wow...
