Passed my Nikyu grading

Yesterday I successfully graded for my Nikyu brown belt. I have put some of my thoughts into a new blog. Grading is always a good experience from the perspective of reflection and personal development. I enjoyed this grading as I felt far more in control of myself. It is always satisfying to feel the progress you have made between gradings. It will be interesting to see if others have had similar experiences at gradings.

Congratulations! Personally, gradings are nerve wracking for me, because I am terrified I am going to screw up and let my teachers down. Or, like I did in my last randori, blank out and do nothing but shiho nage for 6 techniques in a row. :P

Re: Passed my Nikyu grading

well that's one dynamic I will never experience in Aiki-Jujutsu. We don't practice randori so I can imagine when you have several people rushing towards you, you have to rely totally on your instincts. I must admit that once I'd lined up on the mat the occassion hit me but I tried to immediately put any negative thoughts or fears out of my head and trust that I'd passed my previous gradings and just trust my previous experience will see me through.
