Stupidest Criminal...

Nothing is funnier than a stupid criminal, right?

There was a case where a burglar fell asleep on the bed, in the house,
with the couple whose house he was robbing. It sounds crazy, but it's a
true story. The folks at The Smoking Gun are having a funny award for
this year's "Stupidest Criminal", so I thought to start a thread here
to see if there were any good stories out there that we can submit to
their editors (long-shot but hey, you never know!!) In case you want to
check it out the show (it's called The Smoking Gun Year End Special),
it's going to air thisThursday night, I believe at 10pm. These guys
can be pretty hilarious so it's worth taping in case you aren't going
to be home.

I heard a story once about a burglar trying to get into a house form the roof, and he fell through a window or skylite or something of that nature. Anyway, when he fell through he landed on a glass table and got injured, and eventually sued the lady who owned the house. Don't know if its true, but funny regardless. :

Re: Stupidest Criminal...

Hm...I don't know if I should tell this...It might not be the stupidest criminal but it sure would be the strangest criminal...Ah hell, we're all old enough to read...

A buddy of mine is in the law enforcement industry...anyway...we were talking one morning and he told me that somebody had been arrested the night before and I asked, "For what?"...Here is his reply:

There was this guy that ran to the front door of the Comfort Inn, a nationwide motel chain, and proceeded to pleasure himself in front of the building, which happens to be on the busiest road in town on a Friday night, to the female at the front desk. The man then proceeded to finish his business, if you will, and ran a few miles to a warehouse where he was arrested.

It might not be the stupidest crime...like trying to rob a bank by posting the "Hand me all of your cash" message on the back of your resume...but it sure would be the most original crime...

Re: Stupidest Criminal...

Hi all,

Reading your post reminded me of some videos I saw on a TV show one time about stupid criminals.

I remember a robbery of a convenient store caught on tape by the store's cameras. As if it wasn't enough that the guy had stolen all the money in the register, he grabbed himself a hot dog weenie on the way out the door. As he was about to leave he took a bite of his hot dog and got choked. He began running up to everyone frantically as if he was trying to say something and then collapsed in the doorway. I couldn't stop laughing.

I remember another convenient store robbery where the robber had a rifle and held the clerk at gunpoint and asked for the money from the register. When the clerk said that he could not open the register, the crook laid his rifle down on the counter and reached over for the register to open it himself. The clerk simply picked up the rifle and held the criminal for police.

Funny stuff.

Shane
