Question Looking for Folding mats - 6'x12'

I am in the process of looking for folding mats; vinyl covered, polylam/ethafoam interior, velcro connections (four sides), 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inch thickness. My preferred size is 6ft by 12ft (that's unfolded - folded they are 2ft by 6ft).

I have found a few suppliers (Athletic Gym Mats, AK Athletic, Tiffin, Resilite) with prices ranging from $260-430 (US) each. Does anyone have any additional information? Quality/reputation of these suppliers, other suppliers, hidden costs/extras, etc.

Any and all information is welcome. Thanks!!

-Dave

Dang! I just saw the "Supplies" database. Oh well.

But, if anyone has any info not found there, or wants to share their experience, please let me know. Thanks!

I use the Series 400 mats from http://www.mancinomats.com.
Been very happy with them. The oldest mats are 13 years old and still holding up.

Re: Looking for Folding mats - 6'x12'

Hard to explain but AAI puts their Velcro on 1 way and the rest of the industry puts it on another - so they are incompatible. I 'married' AAI a long time ago.

Latest I have heard is the covering should be a thickness of 18 (not sure what the measurement is), older mats were 14 or 16.

If you are going to put them directly on concrete go thicker 2", if on a second floor that has hardwoods or carpet, thinner may be fine.

I have found some advertised - and have sold some old ones myself on a few Gymnastics bulleting board probably Craigslist a better place now....
