Aikido Journal is reporting that Sadateru Arikawa sensei (9th dan, Aikikai Hombu Dojo) passed away on Saturday, October 11th in Tokyo. Stanley writes, "The public funeral will be held on Wednesday in Tokyo. The Aikikai Hombu Dojo should be contacted for further information." My condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones.

I was only priveleged to practise with Arikawa Sensei 3 times but one of my fondest Aikido memories is of sharing a few drinks with him one evening in a hotel bar in Tanabe during an IAF congress.

I can only echo Furuya-san's comments; a sad day and a great loss for Aikido
