I was curious on the ones who answered 10 or more attacks outside the dojo (I was one of them) how many are in law enforcement or a related field?

That was the reason I answered so high was because I work in that field and get a lot of "unfriendly" people who don't want to go to jail.

Well, I worked for different programs for troubled youth for about 2 1/2 years in the last ten, hence all but 2 attacks.
So iguess that is 1 for related fields.

Funny you should ask that,
Just yesterday I was at the local car wash, when a man came running past me on
the sidewalk, followed by a cop. Apparently the man was in the process of
fleeing a burglary and the cop was trying to catch him. Roughly ten feet away, the
cop caught him by the scruff of the neck, and the man spun around and took a swing at him.
The cop responded by doing what looked like Kotegaeshi (My eyes widened) the
man went down, and more units arrived. Later, I approached the cop and asked
him if he studied Aikido. He said yes, and he added that it comes in handy just about every week.
By the way, it was VERY effective.

This is sort of offtopic, but what happened to hte burgler when the officer did kotegaesh on him- did he fall, or what?

Just trying to clear something up about that technique,
Alex Magidow

PS- did he say how long he'd practiced it? What style?
