New Book Of Aikido Stories: A Way to Reconcile the World

Posted 2014-06-20 15:18:50 by Jerry Green

Editor Quentin Cooke met Robert Frager Sensei, 7th dan, who had studied with O Sensei, the founder of Aikido. Frager Sensei had a wonderful aura of calm and deep wisdom and as they talked about this and that, he said casually ‘It's such a shame that there is no one out there who is capturing the wonderful stories that arise out of aikido.'
This book contains over 80 aikido stories from everyday life, collected from around the world. . The range of ways and circumstances in which people have used what they have learnt on the mat to deal with whatever life throws at them is simply amazing. Some stories are very short and make a simple point, and others are more profound, but they all serve to inspire and motivate and will serve to entice others to understand the benefits of aikido practice.
All proceeds from the book will go to Aiki Extensions, the international charity based in the USA, that seeks to encourage Aikido students to extend the principles they learn on the mat into the world at large, and which undertakes worthy projects using aikido as a tool to help the less fortunate.
To order the book, <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1TvDuMmEJU1nodftrU7VePWYJrkR0VimIb68v6pTMci4/viewform

Thanks Jerry, I am very grateful. I found it inspirational to do and am pretty sure that most readers will find themselves inspired on reading it. The stories come from all over the place and include some well known names as well as near new students.

I'd love some feedback!

I wonder if Mr. Cooke has read the thread '' Daily Applications of Aikido'' and would contribute to it?

Re: New Book Of Aikido Stories: A Way to Reconcile the World

I enjoyed the book immensely. It is full of inspiring articles.I am glad that Quentin persuaded me to contribute my story. I am now, in a large part due to this book, in contact with other disabled aikidoka in other parts of the world.

All proceeds from the sale of the book go to the charity Aiki Extensions.
