Is this "game" related to aikido?

http://members.iinet.net.au/~pontipak/redsquare.html

Try it and let me know your scores. It's supposed to be tough to go more than 18 seconds.
All I can say is that I've done my best times seeking the white portion. Avoiding the blocks means I'm concentrating on four "enemies", needlessly splitting my concentration. Good luck.

I survived 21.047 seconds after my third try. Hey, this game is so much like jiyu waza!

19.5 on 5th try (before it was like between 0,2 and 5)... it's like once you get the hang of it...

I like the idea of staying close but not "confronting" the blue blocks. My best is 31+ seconds but I know a guy who's done 34 seconds.

Re: Is this "game" related to aikido?

I couldn't even find the damn game...

(Actually, I can get into the mid-25's. The blue blocks follow a set pattern, and, with practice, you can learn what it is, kinda like PacMan)

Re: Is this "game" related to aikido?

20.79 seconds.
I guess it's randori-esque, at least as far as movement of the red box goes. The blue boxes aren't conciously going after the red one, though, and the point is not to touch the blue ones, which is sort of not what Aikido does. So, I guess it's as aikido as it can be with blue and red boxes on a computer.

Peace,
Tom Newhall

Re: Is this "game" related to aikido?

That's pretty fun! I got up to 25 after many tries. I noticed that it seems to be a fixed pattern so I tried to change my responses, which was very difficult.

Do you think this game is related to aikido?

The first thing that occured to me, and not to the people I visit on another forum, is to seek the white rather than avoid the blue. I also added concentration on my breathing, relaxing my shoulders and face muscles.

Sound advice for the execution of this game...Avoiding the blue I'm able to get to the 18 second mark, but by seeking the white I repeatedly get in the 20's...

How does that relate to looking for openings? Maybe a stretch...

Re: Is this "game" related to aikido?

20.187 secs. It's like randori with mindless zombies because they always move the same way and you cannot 'draw' them to you. At the start you can do very well just by hanging around in the top left corner. (Maybe I should try hiding in randori and see what happens

Re: Is this "game" related to aikido?

80.14 then i got bored.
it might be that the computer runs it dead slow though, im guessin it is meant to go a bit quicker.

one can see where the blue squares are headed, so just put your square in the white away from them-easy.

Why does it stop when I use atemi ?

Ok, no one mess with deborah, unless you think you can stick it out more than 80 seconds...
