A new review has been posted in the AikiWeb Book database:
============================
Book Title: This is Aikido
Book Author: Tohei, Koichi

Review author: Ian Dodkins
Rating given: 4 (out of 5)

Review:
I found an old copy of this in a library - not sure it is easy to get hold of!

I actually found this historically interesting since he talks about aikido in such a way that you realise it was a new and relatively unknown martial art, still trying to get respectability.

If I had been reviewing it in the 60's I would have given it 5 stars. Writing is authoritative and I liked the use of curly arrows in diagrams to represent the dynamic and circular movement.

It goes over a lot of 'techniques' whereas in reality they are the same techniques from different attacks. There are more comprehensive books but Tohei has a beautiful writing style which is concise and enlivening.
