Freaky! hakama

~~Okay, I'm going to sound quite stupid here but: What does the hakama signify? Why do we wear one (at different levels in different schools)? Just historical respect? Someone started telling me about the spirituality in the pleats and sorta lost me. Anybody?

~~Paula~~

If you go to the weblinks portal part of Aikiweb and go to Generla Info, there is a section on Hakama under the Misc. part of Aikido FAQ which should answer all your questions.

If you go the weblinks portal part of Aikiweb, there is an Aikido FAQ section under General info that should answer all your questions. I think the Hakama stuff is under Misc. and you will probably have to go to the top of the page and click the dropdown box. I hope this helps.
