Recently moved to Evansville IN and looking for a dojo. There is a listing in the telephone directory but no answer to the phone.
Anybody here from E'Ville and can assist?

Re: Just Arrived - Evansville IN
Michael,
Welcome to the area and the boards! There are no "active Dojos" in the area, unless you want to drive to Owensboro (~50 miles). However, there is a local instructor of the Hibi Shoshin Dojo, the Evansville Aikido place, still about. I had the opportunity to meet with William Kulhanek Sensei and also Joshua Sloan, his senior student and an Uchi Deshi at a Dojo in Layfayette, for some sushi and Aikido talk the other week. It seems that there could be the possibility for local training at some point. As to when that point is, we still don't know, but are optimistic. Perhaps Josh can jump in the thread and elaborate a bit more than I can.
Either way, welcome all around, and glad to hear another voice in the area!

Just to update: I checked on Owensboro. There are no classes there at times that suit my schedule. Shucks!

Re: Just Arrived - Evansville IN
I just moved to Evansville from Indianapolis in January. I've been training at the Aikikai in Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Budokan for iaido and Dentokan Aiki-ju-jutsu. Since I have been here I have also been a student of Caslin sensei, the training in Owensboro is great, I hope you have a chance to visit sometime.
Please see: http://www.aikidoofevansville.org/
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Re: Just Arrived - Evansville IN
I have been working with Jeff and a few other people here in Evansville. I am so glad to find this. I am a "newbie" and love working in Aikido. I hope it grows here in Evansville and am very excited at the prospect of going to Owensboro to train on Saturdays. Glad to see there are more Evansville people interested. I hope you join us. Or have I met you already I am terrible with names haha.
