Re: Donovan Waite Sensei's Aikido of Center City Philadelphia YouTube Channel

I remember in the late 1980's a group from our dojo went to a weekend seminar at the New York Aikikai and Donovan was uchi deshi. We stayed overnight at the dojo sleeping on the mats. My friend Bob and I went into Donovan's small room at the dojo to talk to him and we noticed a weapon's rack full of typical Aikido weapons and what looked to me like a pick axe handle at the bottom of the rack. When Bob asked him about it he indicated that the bokkens and jos(?) where for training but the pick axe handle was for burglars.

Lol. That's a great story. I'll have to ask him about the pick axe handle the next time I see him.

I doubt if he will remember us but I would be interested to know his reply about the pick axe handle.
