Aikido On Orbit

Posted 2009-03-31 13:48:35 by Walter Marker

Greetings from NASA. My name is Walter Marker. I run Seishinkan Aikido dojo near NASA Johnson Space Center. One of my students, Michael Barratt, Aikido Shodan, is a NASA Astronaut. On March 26, 2009, Michael was launched to the International Space Station. Sometime in the next few weeks, Michael will perform the first on-orbit demonstration of Aikido. The demo will be video downlinked to JSC. I will post a copy on web.

Re: Aikido On Orbit

it's going to be hard to keep the one point and weight under side. wonder which techniques would work and which wouldn't. and which techniques would change ISS's orbit.

Re: Aikido On Orbit

Hey, this could go down the history as the first martial art to be performed at the outer space. And IMHO, the best suited one to be performed at Zero G.

best regards
