"Some Leap, Some Walk; All Get Cold"

Posted 2009-01-02 14:08:56 by Jun Akiyama
News URL: http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2009/j...-all-get-cold/

Here's an article entitled "Some Leap, Some Walk; All Get Cold" which describes members of Kitsap Aikido in Poulsbro, WA, who take an annual plunge into the waters of the Point No Point shore in Hansville on New Year's Day. According to Dan Delaney who leads the event, "It's easier to jump in or run into the water. But to walk in slowly and control your breathing and stuff, that takes real mind over matter."

They got us beat by about 6 degrees!

The camaraderie of this ritual is awesome! We knew others were hitting it the same time we were yesterday, and that made our hearts warm, if not our toes.
