Question Help Finding a Dojo In North Las Vegas

I'm a nidan aikidoka and my job will take me to Las Vegas for about two weeks a month for the next several years. I'd like to find a dojo or at least a group of folks interested in training in northwest Vegas.

I'll be staying in northwest Vegas or perhaps the Summerlin area. I've checked the yellow pages and aiki web dojo search and most aikido seems to be in central LV, Henderson and areas south. I'd like to avoid long commutes to the dojo because the freeways are pretty chewed up in Vegas and traffic in general is a mess.

I'm open to all styles but have the most experience in Iwama and Birankai (formerly USAF-West).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Re: Help Finding a Dojo In North Las Vegas

IIRC, there was a USAF dojo on the north side, but I think it closed, or moved to the south side. I believe there is an ASU-affiliated club at UNLV which might let you train. There's only a couple other dojos I know of in Vegas, but as you said, they are south or in Henderson. I have been disappointed by the slim pickin's when I have visited in the past. I know some people there though, so I'll see if I can find out more for you, and post it here.

Not sure location but Desert Wind Aikido is an ASU affiliated dojo somewhere north of the Strip.

They're on South Decatur, about even with the Wynn Las Vegas. That's still well south of downtown, but may still be the closest Aikido to North LV.
