Although I never met the man, he was somewhat responsible for my studying Aikido - around 1975 I saw this article in the Navy Times about this Navy Signalman that just received his shodan in the Japanese martial art of Aikido; which sounded very interesting to me at the time - about a year later I was stationed in Guam with the Navy and one of my shipmates told me they were training in Aikido and wanted to know if I was interested; well, I was and that started my journey at that time - if I never heard of Aikido from that article, I would probably had passed on that.
Anyway, if anyone out there has a connection to his organization, please pass on my condolence
- I understand he was a perfect gentleman and an extremely skilled martial artist.
